TREA Members, Thanks to the PACT Act , millions of Veterans who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances are now eligible for VA health care and benefits. TREA Members, After months of advocacy, we are proud to report that President Joe Biden signed into law the TREA backed Veterans Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) Act of 2023 ! The bipartisan legislation will increase compensation for veterans with service-connected disabilities and military survivors under the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The COLA Act will also increase certain VA benefits including disability compensation, clothing allowances, and dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children... Read More |

TREA Members, On April 14, 2023, Representative Hillary Scholten (Mich.) and Delegate Jennifer González-Colón (PR) introduced the “Pay our Coast Guard Parity Act” (H.R. 2693) a bipartisan bill aimed at ensuring that the U.S. Coast Guard is compensated for their work performed during government shutdowns. TREA Members, The Major Richard Star Act (S.344/H.R.1282) was re-introduced in the 118th Congress on February 9, 2023. If passed, the bill would support more than 50,300 combat-injured veterans with concurrent receipt of vested retired pay and VA disability. Currently, these combat-injured (and often seriously disabled) veterans are subject to a “cost-saving” offset where their retirement pay is reduced for every dollar of VA disability received.
